The education system in the United Arab Emirates can be sadly lacking, but there are some schools which do have high standards such as Dubai University College. The government has plans to nationalise its human resources sector which includes the school system. Some of Dubai's major real estate companies have started an initiative to upgrade the system to meet international standards and already 100 million Dh (approximately €220.000) has been collected to support the Dubai Education Council.

Dubai has a large number of international schools, including Primary, Secondary, Higher Schools and Colleges. These follow either the American, British, Russian, Filipino or Japanese curriculum. But most international schools have either the British or the American system.

The best way to get information about schools and colleges is to use the internet. Once you found the right one, it is advisable to directly apply online before moving to the UAE because there are such long waiting lists.
