LANGUAGE IN DUBAI

Dubai is located on the peninsula of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and has Arabic as its official language. The Arabic language is related to Aramaic and Hebrew and belongs to Afro-Asiatic language family. English is also very common and most citizens speak it fluently. Dubai is full of people from all over the world so several other mother tongues are spoken in this area.

Arabic is not only spoken in the UAE but also in numerous other countries such as the Sudan, Morocco, Iraq and Somalia. Over 22 countries and nearly 200 million people use the language of the Quran. It can be classified into Modern Standard Arabic which is used in the media (television, radio, newspapers, etc.), mosques and books; and Classic Arabic which was Mecca's original dialect.

India, the Iran and even European countries like Portugal, England and Spain have words of Arabic origin in their language. "Sugar", "alcohol", "cotton" and "magazine" are just a few examples.
